A BEAUTY and hair salon in Basingstoke is celebrating after moving to new premises near the town centre.

Roots Hair Salon, which had been based in Body Bronze Limited in Kings Road for the last two years, now has its own premises.

The salon, run by Zahra Safapour, 40, has opened in Mortimer Lane next to Mortimer Cars Ltd.

Zahra acquired the new premises last month and had temporarily stopped cutting hair since Wednesday, August 16 to prepare and decorate the new salon.

Zahra has been cutting hair for 16 years and had previously owned a salon by the same name in Sports Centre gym in Festival Place, but was forced to close during the Covid pandemic.

Zahra and a few friends have been hard at work at the salon decorating the inside of Basingstoke's newest salon. Zahra currently works on her own, adding that she will be looking for staff going forward.

The new salon has a reception and waiting area, and four chairs for cutting.

Zahra began cutting hair in the new salon in Mortimer Lane on Thursday, August 24, adding that all her existing clients would be making the move with her.

Zahra said: "I feel very cosy in this new salon, and I'm really happy and very excited to be here. I remember walking past here when I would make my way from the college to town 20 years ago, and always thinking it would be a prime spot for a little, so to be able to move in here is wonderful.

"I'm really pleased with what we've been able to do with the place, and want this to be a nice, chilled environment that people can feel comfortable coming to."
