THE amount of crime being reported in Basingstoke and Deane has fallen, the latest police figures show. 

In May 2023, the most recent month available, 1,149 crimes were reported across the borough. This is down from the 1,205 crimes reported a month earlier in April. 

The most common category was violence and sexual offences, with 475 offences reported as taking place during the month. This is down from 488 reports in April. 

Public order offences were the second-most common category, with 137 offences reported. This was followed by 129 anti-social behaviour incidents.
