OUR readers celebrated National Kitten Day by sharing their photos with us.

These photos of Basingstoke's beautiful fur babies have delighted us all, and we hope they bring the same joy to you.

From the tiniest of kittens to the largest fluffball, we can't get enough of your purrfect photos, which is why we've made this gallery showing some of our favourite cat pics that you shared.

We could only pick a handful, so don't feel disheartened if your fur baby didn't make it into the gallery.

What is National Kitten Day?

July 10 is just an ordinary day to some, but to those in the know it is a time for very important celebration.

It originated in the US but is now celebrated around the world.

Cats are beloved by many – in ancient Egypt they were worshipped as the Egyptians believed they were magical creatures who would bring good luck to those who housed them.

Scientists estimate that humans have kept cat companions for around 12,000 years, the felines being the only animal to domesticate themselves.

Cats Protection was established in 1927 and helps teach people how to look after kittens and cats.

It is now the UK’s largest feline welfare charity with more than 210 volunteer-run branches and 34 centres.
