Losing wickets in clumps, Hartley Wintney fell to a 75-run defeat by Portsmouth & Southsea, who moved into second place in Southern Premier Division 2, writes Mike Vimpany.
Chasing 232, they began confidently enough with Hugo Hammond (37) and Charlie Puddifant (34) providing a fifty-plus start, but once Matt Williams (5-25) broke through they were on the back foot.
Williams removed five of Hartley’s top seven, with only Roy Cockram (31) making much of an impact in the middle-order.
Jamie Teale and Cockram shared six of the P & S wickets, with Jack Davies and Dean Lee hitting fifties.
