The Basingstoke branch of the Women’s Equality Party (WEP) and the Basingstoke and North East Hampshire Green Party held a busy one-day roadshow for Basingstoke’s Green Week.

Packed with information on greener lifestyles and political changes that the two parties are campaigning for collaboratively, residents came to Chineham, Beggarwood and the town centre and got the opportunity to speak to party representatives about their own environmental thoughts and ideas.

WEP Basingstoke local election candidate for Hatch Warren and Beggarwood, Stacy Hart, said: “We had a brilliant day and thank everyone that came and had conversations with us about vital environmental issues.

"From improving recycling rates to increasing biodiversity and campaigning for the Climate and Ecology Bill, residents largely agreed that the things we’re prioritising are central to their concerns, too.

"The want for change is absolutely there in the community and now we need to harness it at the local government level in a cross-party, collaborative way.”
