A NEW independent specialist veterinary orthopaedic practice has opened near Basingstoke.

The Moores Orthopaedic Clinic opened its doors at Manor Farm Yard in Upton Grey.

Orthopaedic specialist Andy Moores leads the surgical team at the new purpose-built clinic, and is joined by fellow surgical specialist Chris Jordan, managing director Richard Hoile and a nursing team led by Emma Howell-Jones.

Andy and Chris are both recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as specialists in orthopaedic surgery.

"We are thrilled to have opened The Moores Orthopaedic Clinic and have had a fantastic first month,” said Andy

“We saw the need for a clinic that provides exceptional patient care at an affordable price, and we are proud to say that we have delivered that with The Moores Orthopaedic Clinic. We have two very experienced specialist surgeons and a clinic designed from the ground-up to reduce the risk of complications after surgery.

“We are able to provide the very best orthopaedic care and the best possible outcomes after surgery. And without the high over-heads many referral centres often face, we can achieve this at a very competitive price.”

The clinic has a CT scanner, mobile digital X-ray and two surgical theatres along with other orthopaedic equipment.

The clinic’s design includes a HEPA-filtered ventilation system in the surgical suite, isolated from the rest of the clinic. The system, according to the clinic, exceeds guidelines for human orthopaedic theatres and will reduce the risk of infection after surgery.

The clinic promises to manage all orthopaedic problems, from the simple to the complex, with special expertise in cruciate ligament surgery, total hip replacement, fracture repair, growth deformities and arthroscopy (key-hole joint surgery).

Andy and Chris are also taking referral cases from practices across the south.

The team has all previously worked together. Andy and Richard established and grew a large successful multi-disciplinary veterinary referral hospital near Winchester. Chris undertook his surgical training as one of Andy’s residents 11 years ago and has since worked in Canada and the United States, where he spent four years as head of surgery at a referral clinic.

"We understand how important pets are to their owners, and we are committed to providing the best possible care for our patients," said Chris.

"Our team is made up of highly trained and experienced professionals who are passionate about helping animals. We look forward to serving the south of England and making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners."
