THE body of a man in his 80s has been found in Chineham, but police say the death isn't being treated as suspicious. 

Police had initially been seen in Hartswood, off Reading Road, on Monday, June 12 at around 11.30am. 

Now Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that the body of man was found in Reading Road.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers are carrying out enquiries after a man’s body was found in Reading Road, Chineham.

"We were called at 11.27am on Monday 12 June by a member of the public.

"Officers attended the scene and the body of a man in his 80s was found. The man’s next-of-kin have been informed.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious but officers remain in Reading Road to carry out enquiries. "Those who live in the cordoned off area of Reading Road can speak to officers at the scene to help with access to their homes."

Five police cars could be seen at the scene when the Gazette attended the area around 1.45pm, with over six officers visible at various points inside the cordoned area.
