Anvil Arts’ 2023-24 International Concert Series is now on sale. It includes 14 pieces never heard at The Anvil before, and debut performances by outstanding soloists and conductors, as well as many returning favourites.

The season begins on Thursday, September 28, when Anvil Arts’ Orchestra in Partnership, the Philharmonia Orchestra, is joined by violinist Nicola Benedetti for Brahms’ magnificent violin concerto.  Also included in the programme is American composer Nico Muhly’s short but affecting One Line, Two Shapes and Rachmaninov’s moving Symphony no 3.

October will welcome the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine on the 21st, with a programme of Lyatoshynsky, Bruch, Strauss and Liszt, and the Chineke! Orchestra on the 28th, whose programme includes Haydn, Bologne and Beethoven. Brazilian violinist Nathan Amaral joins the orchestra for his Anvil debut.

On November 23, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra performs Tchaikovsky’s charming Sleeping Beauty Suite and is then joined by Seeta Patel Dance for Stravinsky’s ground-breaking Rite of Spring where the ballet is re-imagined with choreography from the Indian tradition of Bharatanatyam. Premiered to huge acclaim in March, this is one of a handful of chances in this country to see one of the most exciting performances of the year.

All concerts start at 7.30pm unless otherwise stated. Tickets are priced from £16 to £44 (except extra concerts).

Under 25s and full-time students, can see any concert from series for just £12, a great opportunity to hear some of the greatest works performed by the finest orchestras and soloists in the world.  The Anvil is considered one of the best concert halls in the country for its fantastic acoustic, so don’t miss out on this great experience right on your doorstep.
