THE jury is deliberating the verdicts of five men accused of being involved in the murder of a man in Basingstoke. 

Frazer Brabant was assaulted and found with serious head injuries in the back garden of a house in Gershwin Road on October 31, 2019.

The 31-year-old father-of-two was taken to hospital and died on January 21, 2020.

Five men have been on trial at Winchester Crown Court accused of offences involving Mr Brabant’s death.

Lee Wood, 32, from Griston, Thetford, Norfolk; Forhad Miah, 32, of Chestnuts Close, Oakley; and Scott Neale, 35, from Spindle Close, Oakridge, have all been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit GBH with intent and violent disorder.

James O’Connor, 24, from Fairfield, Whitchurch, is accused of murder, and Ricky Lewis, 40, from Candover Court, Basingstoke, has been charged with conspiracy to commit GBH with intent and violent disorder.

Wood has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter along with Miah and O'Connor, while Neale has pleaded guilty to the charge.

The court previously heard that the fatal attack on Mr Brabant was carried out as a "revenge" after Mr Brabant, armed with a machete, stole cannabis from Neale on July 31, 2019. 

The jury began deliberating on Wednesday, May 31, shortly after 12.30pm and are continuing deliberations on Friday, June 2.
