THE Basingstoke Race for Life took place this weekend, with competitors running to raise money for charity.

A parade of pink ran, jogged and walked the 3k, 5k and 10k routes around the War Memorial Park, with competitors running to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Over 1,000 women, men and children braved the intense heat and took on the routes plus muddy challenges at the event.

The Basingstoke event took place on Sunday, May 28.

Every year around 1,200 people are diagnosed with cancer in Basingstoke, and one in two people in the UK born after 1960 will get cancer in their lifetime.
