THE author of 17 novels and two short story collections, will be In Conversation with Matt Stadlen at The Haymarket next month.

Ian McEwan will be coming to the Basingstoke theatre on Tuesday, June 20.

Ian is perhaps best known for Atonement which was made into a film in 2007 starring James McAvoy, Keira Knightley, and Saoirse Ronan, winning a British Academy Film Award and a Golden Globe, plus an Oscar for Best Original Score as well as being nominated for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

His first published work, a collection of short stories, First Love, Last Rites, won the Somerset Maugham Award. His novels include The Child in Time, which won the 1987 Whitbread Novel of the Year Award, Amsterdam, which won the 1998 Booker Prize, and Machines Like Me, which was a number one best-seller. His stories lay bare the passions and the contradictions of modern Britain, exploring relationships, society and the infinite complexity of the human condition.

In this special event, Ian joins Matt Stadlen, a radio and television presenter, commentator, producer, writer and author.
