MEMBERS of a fitness centre in Tadley have been left disappointed after it sent out an email containing incorrect information regarding a freeze to their membership fee for the month of May.

Tadley Health and Fitness Centre sent an email on April 20 to its members, informing that their membership fee would be reduced for the month of May due to the closure of the pool for urgent repairs.

However, it has now been confirmed that this freeze was meant only for swim-only and swimming lesson members due to the closure of the pool.

The pool was closed for urgent repairs in the first week of April after an adjustable pool floor experienced “a technical fault”.

The recent email from the centre, which did confirm that the repairs were underway and that the pool would be reopening on May 6 as planned, has caused further disappointment and confusion for some members.

Some members took to Facebook on Tuesday, May 2, to complain about the centre taking money via direct debits.

But the centre sent out another email on Wednesday, May 3, and apologised for the "administrative error".

The centre also acknowledged the disappointment and financial strain it may have caused for some members during these difficult times.

The email, seen by the Gazette, reads: "We apologise whole-heartedly for the error in communication and any inconvenience it may have caused. We understand the frustration and disappointment this may have caused for some members, and we want to assure them that we are taking steps to ensure that this does not happen again in the future. We appreciate our members' patience and understanding during this period and look forward to welcoming them back to the centre."

"As of now, the pool is set to reopen on Saturday, May 6, allowing members to resume their regular use of the facility.

Guy Baber, contract manager for Basingstoke & Deane Community Leisure Trust, said: We apologise to any customers who received an email with incorrect information regarding membership freezes, during the period the pool was closed. A second email has since been issued with the correct information.

“We would like to thank all of our customers for their patience while we carried out essential repairs to the pool, but we’re delighted to announce that it will be reopening on Saturday May 6th.”
