MORE than 200 walkers came together to take on a challenging 5.1-mile trek to raise money for a Basingstoke hospice.

The walk saw participants take part in the annual 'Walk for the Hospice' event at Farleigh Wallop Estate in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.

Organised by the hospice and sponsored by Basingstoke-based Juniper Research, the walk was held on Sunday, April 23.

The walkers, who were treated to stunning views of the Hampshire countryside and bluebells, were able to raise funds for the hospice, which provides free compassionate care for people with life-limiting illnesses, end-of-life care, and bereavement support to those in North Hampshire.

St Michael’s Hospice's events manager Becky Legate expressed her gratitude to everyone who participated in or supported the event.

She said: “It was lovely to see so many people from our community come together to help us provide vital care for our patients. Well done and thank you.”

The event concluded with refreshments and raffles at the finish line, where additional funds were raised for the charity.

Local businesses and organisations played a crucial role in making the day possible, from ensuring the safety of the walkers to donating cakes and refreshments.

St Michael’s Hospice relies heavily on its community of supporters to help them provide the necessary care and support to those in need, as an independent charity, it needs to raise £14,000 every day.

The hospice holds various events throughout the year, including the Sunflower Celebration in July and the Moonlight Walk in September.
