TRAINS may be delayed or revised due to a fault on a train between Basingstoke and Exeter St Davids on Thursday, April 20.

Trains are currently being run at reduced speed on all lines due to the fault, with some services running through these stations delayed or revised.

South Western Railway (SWR) has said that disruption is expected until 7pm.

A post on SWR's website says: "We have been informed of a train which has a fault running on our West of England line between London Waterloo/Basingstoke and Exeter St Davids. Because of this, trains running along this route may have to run at reduced speed as there are single-track sections on the line where only one train at a time can be on."

To assist passengers with their journeys, tickets will be accepted, at no extra cost, on the following services:

- Great Western Railway services between Exeter St Davids and London Paddington (in both directions)

- Great Western Railway services between Basingstoke and Reading (in both directions)

- London Underground via any reasonable route (for travel between London Waterloo and London Paddington)

The post continued: "For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."
