A BASINGSTOKE squadron of Royal Air Force held its annual awards evening, recognising the exceptional achievements of its cadets.

The event organised by 443 (Basingstoke) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) was attended by Basingstoke mayor Paul Miller, mayoress Sandra Miller, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight wing commander Mark Trevena (RAFAC).

The night began with an inspection of the squadron, during which the mayor and mayoress were given a chance to interact with the cadets and check their uniform standards.

Following this, the squadron delivered presentations about their experiences, starting with a vlog from cadets who had recently completed a practice expedition for their Silver Duke of Edinburgh award.

The officer-in-charge then presented awards to deserving cadets.

These included the NCO Cadet of the Year award, the NCO Staff Member of the Year award, the RAFA achievement award, the Colin Williams Cup, the Colin Williams Trophy, the Turner Trophy, and the inter-flight competition.

Additionally, several cadets were promoted to flight sergeant and sergeant, recognising their dedication and contribution to the squadron.
