The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane hosted a special reception to mark the council's adoption of the East Woodhay Neighbourhood Plan.

Cllr Paul Miller met representatives of East Woodhay Parish Council and the Neighbourhood Planning Group at an event in the Mayor’s parlour on March 6 2023, to congratulate them on their dedication to engage their community in shaping future development together.

The Neighbourhood Plan was drawn up by local people and adopted by the council after 95.1 per cent of those residents who voted were in favour of the plan.

The plan now forms part of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s development plan for the parish and will be used when considering planning applications.

Cllr Miller said: “My congratulations to everyone in the East Woodhay parish who has been involved in the process to bring this Neighbourhood Plan to fruition. A great deal of hard work has been undertaken by the local community in order to get the plan made.

“Neighbourhood planning allows local people to have a real input into decisions about the future development of their communities.”

This is the 13th Neighbourhood Plan to be made in the borough.
