A 14-YEAR-OLD boy from Whitchurch is planning a 100km sponsored cycle ride to help raise money for Scouts and Girl Guides.

Keshava Mills, who is a Scout Explorer, is currently training with the help of pro-cyclist and high-endurance elite athlete James Lowsley-Williams.

The teenager’s plan is to ride through the Cotswolds, starting and finishing at Chavenage House, the Jacobean Manor featured in the TV show Poldark.

The ride is to help raise money for Scouts and Girl Guides from around the world to attend the 2023 World Scout Jamboree in South Korea.

Keshava said: “I am really excited about this experience of a lifetime. I’m hoping to help the event that will see more than 50,000 scouts attending from countries all over the world.

“Even the smallest donation would be a huge help, because, as well as my own costs of £4,500, my fundraising also contributes to Scouts and Girl Guides from less wealthy countries so that they can attend the World Scout Jamboree as well.”

Keshava, who has so far raised £1,200 from car washing and jumble sales, is planning to undertake the ride in spring.

He has collected more than £700 through her donation page, but his goal is to reach £4,500.
