AN INFANT school in Basingstoke received 31 refurbished laptops from a multinational technology company.

The laptops were donated to Castle Hill Infant School in Winklebury by Wipro Ltd.

The company also donated the latest software, and brand-new chargers along with reformatted laptops.

As a thank you gesture, the students of the school gifted a fingerprint painting to the representatives of the company.

The painting is now displayed at its London office.

An event at the school to mark the donation was attended by Wipro employees, including Liesha Nangia, Amit Rathi, Arvind Bist, Hardeep Kaur and Krithika Subbiah.

Ms Nangia, who volunteered at the school and got the donation process moving, said it was heart-warming to see the enthusiasm and positivity of the students and the headteacher, Alison Story-Scrivens.

Wipro’s VP and global head in digital consulting, Amit Rathi said: “It’s been our privilege to be part of this wonderful opportunity and really seeing so many young faces full of hope and inquisitive minds. We sincerely hope that this little contribution will help in their learning process along with having some fun. Thank you very much.

“It's always inspiring to see parents and community members take the initiative to make a positive impact in their local schools and communities. The work of PTAs and other community groups is invaluable in helping to create positive change. Kudos to Castle Hill friends for seeding this initiative.

“By sharing our experience we aim to encourage others to follow and become more involved in their own communities.”
