A BASINGSTOKE student is holding a 24-hour radio show to help raise money for charity after his nan sadly died.

Jake Hurst, a student at Basingstoke College of Technology, is starting his radio show on Wednesday, February 15 at 3pm and will carry on broadcasting until the following afternoon to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK.

Jake's nan sadly died on August 27, 2017, aged 77, after suffering from dementia for many years.

In his nan's memory, the 17-year-old decided to do the radio show to help improve research and treatment for dementia.

He said: "My family and friends have all been extremely supportive of me running this radio show, especially my grandad.

"We were all close with my nan and this cause means so much to me and is very close to my heart, people listening to the radio can comment and request songs so the whole community can get involved.

"I really enjoy doing things for charity, and every contribution can help make a difference."

Jake, who studies public services, has set up a GoFundMe page, with a target of raising £500.
