BOMB disposal experts were called to a Basingstoke school after a pupil brought in a historic bomb as part of a school project.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team along with Hampshire police officers attended Cranbourne School on Friday, February 1, at 8.21am after a historic ordnance device was brought into school by a pupil.

Tests were carried out on the device and it was later deemed safe and posed no threat to members of the public.

Deputy headteacher Sarah Conlon told the Gazette: “The police were called on Friday after a historic ordnance device was brought into school for the purposes of a school project. This was later deemed to be safe, and no further action taken.

“All necessary processes were followed by the school in relation to this matter, and the safety of all pupils and staff was maintained throughout.”
