AN exciting play about the life of one of the great comic authors is coming to Basingstoke.

Robert Daws (Tuppy Glossop in Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie’s hit TV series Jeeves and Wooster) will be coming to The Haymarket from Thursday, March 3 to 4 with a new one-man play Wodehouse in Wonderland.

The show tells the story of P. G. Wodehouse, or Plum as he’s known to his near and dear, who is trying to write the latest instalment of Jeeves and Wooster.  However, a would-be biographer, his wife, his daughter, and even his two Pekingese have other ideas.

Set in Wodehouse’s office in Long Island in the 1950s, the play sees him answering questions from a visiting biographer, as well as singing hits from his illustrious early career as a Broadway lyricist, with songs by Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Ivor Novello.

This new and exciting play by William Humble is about the life of one of the great comic authors, creators of Jeeves and Wooster, and a host of memorable characters, whose writings continue to inspire writers and stand-up comedians.  Join Robert as he portrays the famous writer and brings his story to the stage with marvellous tales and spectacular tunes!

The play is performed by arrangement with the Wodehouse Estate.
