BASINGSTOKE'S first-ever 100 per cent vegan café is celebrating one year of business.

Vemillion, which is located at Chineham Shopping Centre, celebrated its one-year anniversary on Tuesday, January 24, which saw a busy day of regular customers and new faces wishing them a happy birthday.

The cafe's anniversary was celebrated with a 'burger day' with half-price hot drinks when you buy a cake to celebrate Veganuary. The offer will continue for the rest of January. There were also balloons displays, while staff wore party hats.

Vemillion director and manager Trudy Hill said: "The celebrations went really well. It feels amazing to be celebrating one year, we have worked so hard to get where we are today and our staff and customers are what make Vemillion so successful.

"Moving forward we are going to continue to push ourselves to be a fantastic café for everyone to enjoy, vegan or not."

The café serves a wide range of sustainable foods including breakfast, brunch, lunch, coffee, cake, desserts and a selection of crisps and chocolate and sweets.

The whole interior of the shop is covered with original African artwork, which has been painted and hand-signed by artists from Ghana.

They purchased the artwork to sell to members of the public and then give the money back to the artists.
