THE owners of a chain of coffee shops have brought a new lifestyle shop to Whitchurch.

Kudos Coffee owners Jenni and Rob Good have opened Kudos Living at the site of the former Haynes, Hanson and Clark wine shop in Church Street.

The shop offers a range of dried and chilled foods from local suppliers, such as River Test Distillery and Betty’s Bees, alongside homeware such as plates, candles and other gift items.

The couple said that the shop is a venture they have been interested in pursuing for a while.

Rob said: “My wife is really creative and would love to do interior design work, and this is something we have thought about for a long time.

“We took on this unit more for the backend, the warehouse, which we thought we could put in a kitchen in there for the coffee shops and an office space and storage.

“And because it had the retail spot, and is only a few doors down from the current shop, we thought ‘well, why don’t we give this a go?’

“And Whitchurch is kind of missing a retail aspect, there are not a lot of retail shops in Whitchurch, especially when you compare it to Overton, and we thought it was crying out for something a bit different.”

Alongside selling a wide array of products, Rob said that he and Jenni are looking into running events in the shop during the evening with plans to host workshops with a local florist as well as wine-tasting evenings.

Jenni said: “We really pride ourselves in the coffee shops in making it somewhere where everybody feels welcome; specialty coffee but without the intimidation of maybe not knowing what the difference is between a flat white and a latte.

“And I guess that welcoming feeling, that design we’ve always had which is Danish, contemporary Scandi style, we wanted to create that in a way that people can create everything we stand for in their own homes, whether that is through the items that we sell, the linins and the candles, or the produce that we sell”.
