MAGISTRATES have fined a man who used a stolen bank card to buy food and alcohol from a petrol station in Basingstoke.

Martin Cade used the card stolen from a man in Bramley at BP Services on January 2 to buy items worth £66.98.

During a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court, the 35-year-old admitted to fraud by false representation and handling stolen goods. He also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time on November 7.

Cade, of Greenford, was fined £120 and ordered to pay £66 compensation.

A further charge of failing to answer to court/police bail as soon as practicable was withdrawn.

A BASINGSTOKE man who sent a message that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character has been fined hundreds of pounds.

Jamie Lucas, of Bernstein Road, sent the message on July 25 and admitted to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

The 31-year-old also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time on September 26.

Lucas was fined £666 and told to complete up to 25 rehabilitation days. He must also pay a £114 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

Magistrates also imposed a restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim or going to an address in Basingstoke to “protect aggrieved from further threats”.

A WEST Berkshire woman has been fined after she pleaded guilty to an attack in Basingstoke.

During a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, Andrea Cook, of Thatcham, admitted to assault by beating of a man on October 24, last year.

The 53-year-old was fined £140 and told to pay £100 court costs, along with a £34 victim surcharge.

No compensation was given as the victim is now deceased.

A CARELESS driver who caused a collision has been fined hundreds of pounds after he was found guilty during a hearing at the magistrates' court.

Callum Gallocker, of Camberley, was on the M3 at Hook, driving a Ford Ranger, when without due care and attention he veered into the middle lane without indicating, into the path of a vehicle, which caused them to swerve and collide with another vehicle. The offence took place on April 25.

The 28-year-old, who was not present in court, was found guilty of driving without due care and attention.

He was fined £220 and hit with four points on his licence. He must also pay £110 costs.

A TADLEY man has been fined hundreds of pounds after he was caught with cannabis in the town earlier this year.

Reece Grandison, of Ambrose Road, was stopped with the Class B drug on September 16. The 21-year-old admitted to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

He must pay a £233 fine, along with £85 court costs and a £93 victim surcharge. Magistrates also ordered for the forfeiture and destruction of the cannabis.
