WELL wishes are being sent to a former England Test cricketer and Basingstoke business owner after he ended up in A&E.

Shaun Udal, who is the managing director of Basingstoke business Cotton Graphics, posted on Twitter on November 28 to tell his followers ‘Back at a and e sadly…’ accompanied by a photograph of hospital equipment.

The 53-year-old, who announced in 2019 that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, was sent messages wishing him a speedy recovery following his post.

He also retweeted a post from charity Parkinson’s UK informing people that those with the disease are more likely to have osteoporosis and fractures, with a link to a video with a panel of experts on bone health.

The former cricketer has previously spoken about being diagnosed with Parkinson’s and his fears that the condition may seriously deteriorate after his treatment was suspended during the pandemic.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition with symptoms including involuntary shaking, slow movement and stiff and inflexible muscles.

Udal, who used to play for Hampshire and Middlesex, previously said of his diagnosis: “It’s the toughest test, but I’ll face it head on, tackle it and with the support of friends and family we’ll keep it under control."
