MORE than 200 people have been helped by a repair cafe.

The North Hampshire Repair Cafe has saved thousands of pounds worth of items from going to landfill.

The volunteer-led project runs out of Sherfield Village Hall on the last Saturday of the month.

Simon Boase said: "We fixed a whole range of things brought in by the public. From an oil-filled radiator, through to Christmas lights to children's toys and fixed our first bike.

"Pretty much anything you can imagine that can be carried into the hall.

"We’ve built up a team of about 20 volunteers who give freely their time and expertise.

"Repairs are free excluding parts but we keep running on donations from the community who seem happy to make the small donations necessary to keep a wonderful service running.

"So far we have: helped 210 happy clients, saved £12,869 item replacement costs, avoided 2,062 Kg of greenhouse gases, and 436kg of landfill."

The next session will be held in Hartley Wintney on January 28.

More volunteers are always welcome.
