ONE lane of a major road between Basingstoke and Andover has been closed following a crash.

A303 eastbound between A34 Sutton Scotney and A30 near Basingstoke has been partially closed due to an overturned car on Sunday, November 27.

Traffic officers are currently on scene dealing with the crash.

Police fully stopped the traffic at around 10pm to help the recovery of the car. 

Delays are building on approach, according to an update from National Highways South East.

Night travellers have been advised to allow extra travel time if taking this route.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "Police were called at 8.40pm on Sunday, November 27 to reports of a collision on the A303 involving one vehicle, a Ford S Max.

"A 41-year-old woman from Basingstoke was injured."

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Whitchurch, Andover and Basingstoke firefighters were called to the A303, eastbound following an RTC which saw one car onto its roof.  

"Ambulance colleagues attended and fire crews made the scene safe.

"Stop message received 9.14pm."
