I have just read the article about Remembrance Sunday.

Firstly, the photographs by Sean Dillow were excellent, but the report was not.

According to the article, only soldiers died, as opposed to members of the Royal Navy, the Army, the Royal Air Force but I suppose they don’t count, especially if you don’t have a clue what Remembrance Sunday is about!

Remembrance Sunday is a Royal British Legion (RBL) event, run in conjunction with the local authority but not there was not a mention whatsoever of the RBL.

It was great to mention the veterans and others attending, but the parade was led by the RBL Standard Bearer, followed by veterans, wreath layers, cadets then civilian organisations but you wouldn’t know it from the article.

The RBL has been doing this for over 100 years, so it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, as to the format, they just need to watch the Cenotaph parade.

The Basingstoke Gazette needs to address the lack of respect towards the fallen, the veterans and those still serving, in all our armed forces.
