A BASINGSTOKE dance company is celebrating its success after winning various awards at a prestigious dance competition. 

Forever Young Dance Company (FYDC) attended the Supreme Dance Competition in Newbury this month and were awarded some of the top prizes on offer.

The prizes include overall supreme dance school and two sholarships to two FYDC dancers - Megan and Kirsten - to attend one of London’s top dance colleges Bird College.

FYDC dancers Mia and Megan were selected by the panel of three industry professional judges for the title award in their age categories.

Kirsten was also awarded "judges choice" for her jazz solo and jazz dance challenge.

This was rounded off with the majority of FYDC dancers taking either gold, silver or bronze in their categories.

Dan Keen, principal and company director of FYDC, said: “I am extremely proud of all of our dancers who attended Supreme over the weekend. My brilliant team of three teachers and I work tirelessly to ensure our dancers receive the best dance training within our classes and these results speak for themselves.

"Our 17 dancers aged 5-18 years who attended, performed with excellence whilst on stage and we couldn’t have asked them to do more. Congratulations to each and everyone one you”.

FYDC provides dance classes for children and young adults aged three to 19 years old in ballet, tap, jazz, street and acro in our custom-designed dance studio at Aldworth High School.

Classes run weekday evenings from 5pm and from 8.45am on Saturday and Sundays for all age groups and abilities.

They are currently working towards their annual production, A Night At The Museum which takes place at the QMC theatre in December. This involves 72 students performing with their peers to entertain an audience of friends and family.
