BASINGSTOKE and North Hampshire residents are being urged to don their reindeer antlers and running shoes to raise funds for a charity.

St Michael’s Hospice is urging people to join the Reindeer Run on Sunday, December 18, to raise much-needed funds to continue its work.

This is the second consecutive year St Michael’s Hospice is hosting the special run.

St Michael’s Hospice is a Basingstoke-based charity that cares for patients and their families needing end-of-life and palliative care.

It cares for people across North Hampshire, both in the In-Patient Unit and in patients’ own homes.

For the Reindeer Run, fundraisers of all ages are encouraged to sign up and fundraise to help the charity raise funds.

The reindeer runners will start their run at Festival Place at 9am, looping around Eastrop Park and back to collect their Reindeer Medals.

Lots of activities are planned, including face painting and refreshments.

Director of income generation at St Michael’s Hospice, Lorraine Pink,  said: “The Reindeer Run is the family-friendly, fun event to get you in the festive mood.

“This Christmas, the hospice is going to feel the huge effects of rising energy costs, and with no extra funding, we need our community’s help. Funds raised will help to keep the hospice services running this winter. Thank you to everyone who’s already signed up – we can’t wait to see you.”

The Reindeer Run is sponsored by Festival Place, Harlequin and K J Smith Solicitors.

If you would like to sign up to the run and help raise vital funds, go to stmichealshospice.org.uk or call on 01256 848848.
