Chineham 47-7 Petersfield
Chineham Lions returned to winning ways, even after a slow start on a wet day at home.
A strong maul put Chineham into a great position before Tom Scoble broke off the back to get within a yard, quickly recycled by last season’s top scorer Boo Wells to open his account for the season.
The Lions continued to grow into the game, a strong scrumming forcing a poor kick which was well gathered by Henry Dunne to provide the pass for Jack Soper to score under the posts.
The momentum continued, as from the kick off, after a strong carry from Chris Dorling, Soper sent a cross kick in behind the Petersfield backs which was well gathered by wing Phil Circou, and an excellent pass sent in Dunne to finish strongly under pressure.
A sloppy finish to the half saw Petersfield score from a quick tap five metres out after a sustained period of pressure after Lee Rudden was unfortunate to take a team yellow for persistent infringements.
The second half started strongly, Soper stepping back inside from a Chineham line out to finish from half-way.
Another strong carry from Will Rouse led to more quick recycling from Dunne, and after zig zagging across the pitch Soper completed his hat trick.
A quick tap from Tom Scoble led to Chineham’s next score, feeding the rampaging Chris Dorling to power over under the posts.
The final score of the game came following a series of penalties close to the try line and a strong Chineham scrum.
