JOBSEEKERS in Basingstoke are being given a helping hand to get back to work after the coronavirus pandemic.

Not-for-profit organisation Fedcap Employment is delivering the Government’s Restart Scheme in the town.

Fedcap officially opened its new office at Belvedere House on Basing View on Friday, October 28, but its team have been operating from the base for several months and have already supported hundreds of people into work.

The Restart Scheme is helping people who have been out of work to pick up the skills they need for the modern workforce and helping them with tailored support to find suitable, sustainable jobs.

The organisation’s frontline team are on hand to help with everything from updating CVs and impressing at interviews to tackling health concerns or launching new start-up businesses.

The team, which began delivering the scheme to successfully find new jobs for people across the South Central area of England last year, are already working with some of the region’s leading employers, including Thames Water, Royal Mail, XPO Logistics, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco.

Nick Butler, employment account director, from the Department for Work and Pensions said: “It was fantastic to visit Fedcap and connect with one of our delivery partners. I was really impressed with their online career tool, the Fedcap Hub, a really impressive platform to help people back into work. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with Fedcap in the future.”
