A 45-YEAR-OLD man from Basingstoke has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following an incident on an M3 slip road.

The incident happened on Wednesday, November 2. ROMANSE, which provides traffic updates for Hampshire shared the news on Twitter.

It posted: "#M3 Northbound - All lanes BLOCKED on the entry slip at J6/#A339 #Basingstoke due to an incident, delays building."

Since then Hampshire police have confirmed to the Gazette that a man from Basingstoke has been arrested and remains in custody.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: "We were called just after 1pm today (2 November) to a report of a single vehicle road traffic incident on the slip road to the M3 northbound carriageway at junction 6.

"The road has since been cleared.

"A 45-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and is currently in custody."
