A STRETCH of the M3 will be closed overnight for almost two weeks from Monday, October 31, to allow for roadworks.

National Highways is advising drivers to leave extra time as work to repair the Tower Hill bridge crossing the busy motorway gets underway.

The M3 will be closed northbound between junctions 9 (Winchester) and 7 (Basingstoke) from 9pm to 6am from Monday to the morning of Saturday, November 12. Traffic will be diverted via the A33 Basingstoke Road and A30 to rejoin at junction 7. 

Later in November, the M3 southbound between junctions 7 and 9 will be closed overnight from 9pm to 6am from Monday, November 14 to Saturday, November 26. Traffic will be diverted via the A30 and A33 Basingstoke Road to rejoin at junction 9. 

The repairs on the bridge will last until May 2023. Overnight road closures will also be imposed as a result.

The Up Street, which runs underneath the M3, will be closed between Dummer Down Lane and the A30 Winchester Road from 9pm to 6am on Monday, December 5, Monday, February 20, 2023, and Tuesday, May 2, 2023, to carry out concrete repairs.
