AN UNINSURED drug driver has been put behind bars after driving dangerously in Whitchurch.

David Payne, of Hardmead in Oxfordshire, drove dangerously on the A34 on June 9.

He also had not less than 3.1ug/L of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood - the legal limit is 50.

The 35-year-old, who also had no insurance or driving licence permitting him to drive the vehicle, pleaded guilty during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.

Payne was jailed for six months, with magistrates deeming the offence so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified.

Magistrates also disqualified him from getting behind the wheel for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £128 when released.

A MAN from Basingstoke has been fined hundreds after recklessly damaging property belonging to someone else.

Gary Butler, of Midlane Close, pleaded guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court to criminal damage of a property valued under £5,000.

On November 14 last year, Butler without lawful excuse damaged a car, scooter and plates to the value of £567.

The 51-year-old was fined £76 and ordered to pay court costs of £51, a surcharge of £34 and compensation costs of £567.

A MAN from Bramley who assaulted two police officers has been fined hundreds of pounds.

On September 29, George Eastman, of Lane End, assaulted PC Davies and PS Heard in Chineham. He was also charged with using threatening, abusive words and behaviour.

The 20-year-old pleaded guilty to all offences at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.

Magistrates ordered him to comply with rehabilitation activity. 

He was also fined £40 and ordered to pay compensation costs of £100, court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £114. 

A WOMAN has been banned from getting behind the wheel after driving while over the alcohol limit.

Natalie Curtis, of Hamble Road in Oxfordshire, was driving a Nissan Qashqai when she was stopped by police on the A34 in Whitchurch on September 30.

The 39-year-old was found to have 85 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.

Curtis, who pleaded guilty during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court, was disqualified from driving for 21 months.

Magistrates also ordered her to pay court costs of £85, a surcharge of £74 and a fine of £184.

A DRINK driver has been disqualified from driving for more than a year.

Simon Whaley, of Gaernet Road, Bordon, drove his Vauxhall Astra on Eastrop Way in Basingstoke when he was stopped by police.

He was found to have 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.

The 51-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.

Taking his guilty plea into account, magistrates banned him from getting behind the wheel for 20 months and fined him £520. 

He was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a surcharge fee of £210.
