AN APPLICATION to build a 15-metre tall telephone mast in Lychpit has been lodged with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

The application has been submitted by multinational conglomerate CK Hutchison Networks and comes just two months after a number of proposals for phone masts by the company were rejected.

The prior applications were rejected following significant backlash from residents who lived near the proposed locations.

If the application is approved, the proposed telecommunications mast will be constructed on Great Binfields Road in Lychpit, and will be adjacent to the roundabout at Harvest Way and Great Binfields Road.

In a cover letter included with the application, planning manager Ryan Marshall wrote: “The location has been identified as being necessary for CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Ltd business development and meets its specific technical and operational requirements.”
