A PARADE that was planned to take place in Basingstoke on Friday, October 21, has been postponed, organisers have announced.
Festival of Light parade, organised by dance company Kala the Arts, has been postponed to November due to the forecast of rain and potential lightning.
The parade - a free event for the whole community – was set to start at the Top of Town at 6.30pm before making its way down to the Amphitheatre outside Vue, in Festival Place, for a performance at 7pm.
The Kala team has now announced that the parade and performance is postponed to a new date in November.
The organisers said on their website: “Due to forecast heavy rain and potential lightning, DIYA - Light It Up Parade and Performance is postponed to a new date in November.
“It has not been an easy decision for us, especially because of the huge response. Our sincere apologies if you were looking forward to it tomorrow and made plans. We will get back with a new date very soon.”
