A COUPLE who run a pub in Basingstoke are over the moon after the tavern has received a Tripadvisor award.

The Crown, in Old Basing, has been recognised by Tripadvisor as a 2022 Travellers' Choice award winner for restaurants, making it one of the top 10 per cent of restaurants throughout the world.

Landlord and landlady Ian and Nikii are delighted with the result, having only been in charge for just a few months.

The married pair said: "We are extremely proud to have been awarded this award on Tripadvisor. After only four months of taking over this business, we have worked extremely hard to transform the pub and bring back the feel of a traditional village pub with affordable and great tasting food on the side, working 130 hours per week, it’s small things like this that just make us smile and remember that what we are doing is definitely worth the work we put in.”

The first shared the news with their customers on Facebook.

They posted: "After a long and challenging few months here at The Crown, we are proud to announce we have won the Travellers Choice Award via Tripadvisor it’s an absolute honour to get this type of recognition and we are so proud to be serving and giving you all the service you deserve! Thank you all for your support and custom."

The pub holds regular events such as live music, quiz nights and open mic nights.
