A BASINGSTOKE man who was caught speeding on the motorway has been hit with points on his licence.

Christopher James Garrett, of Beechwood Close, was spotted driving a Jaguar above 70mph on the M4 in South Gloucestershire on November 24, last year. The court record does not state the speed.

The 33-year-old admitted to the offence and was given three points on his licence. He must also pay £66 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

MAGISTRATES have fined a 32-year-old man who broke a local traffic order by speeding.

James Richard Palmer was driving a Volkswagen Crafter on London Road, in Hook, on February 1, last year, over the speed limit.

He was caught driving at 51mph when the speed limit was 40 mph.

Palmer, of Copthorne, Crawley, admitted to the offence and was fined £123 and had his driving licence endorsed.

A CARELESS driver has been fined hundreds of pounds and given points on his licence. 

Chuka Bonavenutre Uju, of Torque Close, Basingstoke, was found to be driving without due care and attention on August 14 in Condor Way. He was behind the wheel of a Peugeot Allure. 

The 38-year-old admitted to the offence due a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court. 

He was fined £556 and hit with nine points on his licence. He must also pay a £222 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. 

A BASINGSTOKE man who assaulted two police officers has been fined hundreds of pounds.

Brandon West, of Martin Close, assaulted Daniel Tompkins and Toby Nicholas Jermyn Proctor while they were carrying out their jobs. The attacks took place in Basingstoke on March 13.

The 19-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

West was fined £240 and must pay £85 court costs, along with a £68 victim surcharge.

MAGISTRATRES have ordered a 21-year-old to complete 300 hours unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to four offences.

Louis Eden admitted to assaulting police officer Elliot Churcher in Basingstoke on August 29, while he was carrying out his job.

On the same day he assaulted two women and police officer Jack Stott in Andover, and a woman in Aldershot.

Eden, of Picket Road, Andover, admitted to the offences during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

He was also ordered to complete up 25 rehabilitation days and pay compensation totalling £550.

A TADLEY man who found with a lock knife and caught driving over the legal drug limit has been ordered to do unpaid work.

Luke Evans, of Gorselands, was stopped on the junction A340 and Mulfords Hill, on March 21 with 32ug/L of cocaine in blood – the legal limit is 10. He was also found with a quantity of cocaine and a lock knife.

The 28-year-old admitted to the offences during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrates ordered Evans to complete 100 hours unpaid work and up to 15 days of unpaid work. He was also banned from driving for 12 months.

He must pay £85 court costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
