ODIHAM has been crowned Hampshire and Isle of Wight Village of the Year celebrating its friendly spirit and community work. 

Judges from the Hampshire Association of Local Councils visited Odiham early September and recognised that the parish is a great place to live, work and socialise, and were impressed with how the local groups in the area ensure the community thrives. 

Such as The Odiham Society, who are supported by the council and have opened a Heritage Centre making an archive accessible to all.

On Thursday, September 29, a presentation evening took place, hosted by 2019 winners Bishop's Waltham, in which Odiham was announced atsthe winner. 

Odiham's nomination focused on its well-led community organisations and positive community spirit.

Odiham Parish Council, which covers Odiham, North Warnborough and RAF Odiham, was delighted to win the award. 

Council chair Angela McFarlane said: “Congratulations to each and every one of the residents of Odiham Parish on winning the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Village of the Year 2022!

"The award recognises the 60+ societies, clubs and committees who make sure there really is something for everyone in Odiham, North Warnborough and RAF Odiham. You are all superstars and we thank you for being such an amazing community to belong in. We are proud to serve as your parish council.“

The award was collected by Cllr McFarlane, clerk Andrea Mann and Odiham Book Exchange chair Jeanne Liddiard at an awards ceremony at the event in Bishop’s Waltham.

The competition was run by the Hampshire Association of Local Councils and sponsored by Gallagher Insurance, Risk Management Consulting.
