ADVENTURER Sir Ranulph Fiennes will be at The Anvil on Thursday, October 20 with his show Living Dangerously.

Named by the Guinness Book of Records as 'the world’s greatest living explorer', Sir Ranulph Fiennes has spent his life in pursuit of extreme adventure, risking life and limb in some of the most ambitious private expeditions ever undertaken.

In Living Dangerously, Sir Ranulph offers a personal journey through his life. It explores his childhood and school misdemeanours, his army life and early expeditions, right through the Transglobe Expedition, to his current Global Reach Challenge. His goal is to become the first person in the world to cross both polar ice caps, and climb the highest mountain on each of the seven continents.

Amongst his many record-breaking achievements, he was the first person to reach both Poles, cross the Antarctic and Arctic Ocean, and circumnavigate the world along its polar axis.

In a interview with Sir Ranulph he explained his competitive side, where he agreed to climb mount Everest after his wife died but suffered from a heart attack when he was 300 meters from the top. After being advised to travel up the mountain from a different route, he tried again in 2008 and still wasn't able to complete the climb.

The next year, 2009, he tried again where he describes himself as being an OAP at this point. He realised that he had failed twice due to being too competitive, so when he tried again he went slower up the mountain and successfully reached the top.

Tickets for Living Dangerously are £36.50, £31.50 (prices include £4 booking fee) and the show will start at 7.30pm.
