Dear Editor,

I was booked to go to The Anvil in Basingstoke yesterday (Wednesday, September 21) to see the concert by Justin Hayward.

Sadly when I woke up I was not feeling good and so chose to take a Covid test. This turned out to be positive. I therefore decided that it would be irresponsible to go to the show and run the risk of people in the audience becoming infected.

So I telephoned The Anvil and explained, but was told that they give no refunds at all, nor would they give me a credit to use in the future.

As I had paid £88 for my tickets I was a more than a little cross and it did occur to me that with this policy, they are encouraging people with tickets, who then get Covid, to go to the theatre regardless and run the risk of other people becoming infected.

In my view this is not at all wise and potentially life threatening, particularly for vulnerable people.

Editor's note: The Gazette contacted The Anvil regarding the situation and was told that the theatre is following Government policy regarding tickets for events and Covid.
