A WOMAN from Basingstoke who stole food items and medication from a Co-op store has been fined.

Debbie Cottrell, 42 and of Spinney Court, pleaded guilty to the offence at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.

Cottrell stole the items which came to a total value of £36 on July 13.

Magistrates fined Cottrell £120 and also ordered her to pay compensation costs of £36.

She must also pay court costs of £40 and a surcharge of £48.

A MAN from Basingstoke who purposely damaged a wall of a house has been fined hundreds of pounds.

Callum Glover, 22, and of Trinity Way, pleaded guilty to the offence.

Without lawful excuse, Glover damaged an internal wall of a house with intent to destroy or damage the property without caring any damage was caused, the court found.

Magistrates ordered him to pay a fine of £433 as well as compensation of £100.

He must also pay £85 court costs and a surcharge £43.

His guilty plea was taken into account.

MAGISTRATES have disqualified a Basingstoke man from getting behind the wheel after he was caught drink driving.

On April 23, Michael Chandler, of Cavalier Road, drove a motor vehicle along Junction 8 of the M3 in Hampshire with 59 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence on September 13.

One charge of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of the vehicle was withdrawn.

He was handed an £800 fine and was disqualified from driving for 16 months.

A MAN who assaulted another man has been slapped with a fine.

On May 29, Lee Kerrigan, of no fixed abode in Basingstoke, assaulted another man.

He pleaded guilty to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court

Magistrates ordered Kerrigan to pay a fine of £307 and he also must pay court costs of £85, a surcharge of £34 and compensation of £75.

A MAN who got behind the wheel of a vehicle while over the drink drive limit has been banned from driving.

Darius Baublys drove a vehicle along the M3 in Hook on September 14.

When stopped the 43-year-old was found to have 92 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit is 35.

He was disqualified for 24 months.

Baublys, of no fixed abode but from Southampton, was also ordered by magistrates to pay a fine of £440. He must also pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £176.

A Co-op shoplifter has been handed a fine by magistrates after stealing alcohol and food items on more than one occasion.

Danielle Porter, of Chestnuts Close, Oakley stole items from the shop on July 21, 2022, their value totalled to £16.

Later, on September 8, Porter stole alcohol belonging to the Co-op which had the value of £6.

The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to both incidents.

Magistrates ordered him to pay compensation of £16 and costs of £40.
