A MAN has been removed from a Basingstoke pub by its staff on suspicion of possession of a potential weapon.

According to police, who launched an investigation, the incident happened at the Maidenhead Inn in Winchester Street on Saturday, September 10.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.40pm on Saturday 10 September to a report of a suspicious incident at the Maidenhead Inn on Winchester Street, Basingstoke.

“It was reported that a man may have had a potential weapon inside the premises. He was removed from the building by staff.

“Officers have launched an investigation and our enquiries are ongoing.”
