The company, which offers a range of burgers, wraps and wings, has been granted planning permission by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to change the use of the Grade II listed 17th century property at 3 Wote Street from a beauty salon to restaurant.

According to Burgers & Co’s planning application, the unit used to be used as a coffee shop and sandwich bar, before being refurbished to become a beauty salon in 2013.

It said the building has been vacant “for a number of years” following the closure of Taylor’s Hair and Beauty.

Burgers & Co. says on its website that it specialises in offering “the right kind of food at a decent price without compromising on the quality”.

It adds: “Each dish is cooked from fresh ingredients by highly trained chefs. Whether dining in or enjoying a takeaway, our emphasis is on providing good service and customer satisfaction.”

Prices range for £5.95 for a hamburger to £12.95 for The Hungry Meat Eater consisting of three beef patties topped with turkey rashers and triple cheese, with sliced red onion, crispy lettuce and burger sauce, served with chips.

It also offers vegetarian options such as Mushaloomi – a grilled portobello mushroom served with layers of halloumi cheese, chilli jam and caramelised onions.
