JACKIE Tobin was modesty itself after she collected the senior volunteer award.
The mother of British international 400 metres runner Robert Tobin said: "I looked around the room and saw people who I thought deserved it more."
Tobin received her award for her work at Basingstoke and Mid-Hants Athletic Club, where she is the men's first team secretary, responsible for getting out a team for British League meetings.
The Robert May's School teacher could equally have received recognition for her work as co-ordinator of local schools athletics teams.
Proud son Robert was delighted to see his mother collect an award. "It's well deserved," he said.
