THE UK's leading wine specialist is celebrating 10 years of its store in Basingstoke.

Majestic Wine, in New Road, opened in 2012, and on Monday, September 5, staff invited shoppers to enjoy Champagne and cake as part of the celebrations.

Store manager Charlie Barnes said: "It feels nice to be celebrating our anniversary, it's a great achievement, especially in this day and age with everything else that is going on. To be sustainable, and to keep the business going, I am very happy that we are ticking all the boxes.

"The next thing coming up for us is Christmas, where every year we will take home 70 per cent of our profit for the year. That's always a good buzz and lots of fun!"

Helen Leaford, sale assistant and driver at Majestic since 2017, said: "We've done lots of external tastings in recent months, obviously tastings couldn't happen before because of Covid, so we are making up for lost time and doing as many as we can."

With 200 hundred stores in the UK, Majestic in Basingstoke was their 185th store to open.
