JON Boden is kicking off the new season in The Forge (at The Anvil) later this month.

He will be entertaining audiences on Wednesday, September 21 with a special solo performance.

Jon is best-known as the lead singer of the progressive folk juggernaut Bellowhead, who have sold more than 250,000 albums, had seven singles playlisted on Radio 2 and sold out hundreds of venues including The Royal Albert Hall.

Autumn 2016 saw Jon launch his live solo career with a performance at Cambridge Folk Festival where he was the festival’s first guest artistic programmer. His recorded solo career goes back to 2006 with the release of his album Painted Lady followed by the critically lauded Songs From The Floodplain which led to him being named Folk Singer of The Year at the 2009 BBC Folk Awards.

Widely respected as an interpreter of traditional song, the solo shows showcase Jon’s instrumental talents on fiddle, guitar and concertina, as well as his trademark ‘stomp box’ which he and John Spiers introduced into to the world of traditional music.

Through his solo work and his work with Bellowhead and Spiers & Boden, Jon has won a 11 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards – more than anyone else.
