STUDENTS of Cranbourne School in Basingstoke were emotional after they achieved fantastic results in GCSE.

Many pupils were seen in happy tears as they opened the envelopes to see their grades.

Among the top performers were the school head girl Sanjila Gurung who scored level 2 distinction in business, grade 8 in French, two 7s, three 6s and one 5.

Sanjila said she is satisfied with her results and she is going to Queen Mary’s College to study biology, chemistry and psychology.

Deputy head girl Emma Graves was also among the top performers at Cranbourne School.

She scored one eight, two 7s, four 6s and one 5.

Emma is also going to QMC to study dance, English literature and law.

School headteacher Jane Aplin said she is very happy with the results.

She said: “The last two years were difficult for the kids. But despite the adversities, they did really well. But I feel they could have done event better. But overall, I’m happy with their results.”
