A HIGHCLERE woman has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds in compensation after causing criminal damage to another woman’s property.

Karin Clements, of Heathlands, Penwood, was conditionally discharged by Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on August 16, after pleading guilty to causing £730 of damage on January 19.

She must also pay the full amount back to the victim in compensation, as well as £40 in costs and a £22 surcharge.

A 41-YEAR-old woman has admitted to possessing a knife in a public place.

Sarah Godfrey, of Melrose Walk, Basingstoke, admitted at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court to having the knife in the town on March 18 without good reason or lawful authority.

Godfrey will reappear at the same court on September 14 to be sentenced.

A further charge of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place was withdrawn.

MAGISTRATES have banned a driver from getting behind the wheel after he was caught drug driving.

Robert Nicula, of Stratfield Road, Basingstoke, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court heard how on April 11 the 29-year-old had 3.6ug/l of Delta- 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in his blood. The legal limit is two.

The offence took place in Dudley Close, Basingstoke.

Nicula was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £120. He must also pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

A HOOK man has admitted to attacking a woman in the village earlier this month.

Christopher Smyth, of Rectory Road, admitted to assault by beating during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court. The offence took place on August 9.

The 21-year-old will reappear at the same court on September 1.

Smyth was remanded in custody following the hearing.

A further charge of assault by beating was withdrawn.

A HARTLEY Wintney man has been told to carry out unpaid work after he admitted to affray.

Thomas Ellsmore, of Judd Mews, pleaded guilty to affray against a man in Hook on September 26, last year.

The 26-year-old must complete 160 hours of unpaid work, pay £85 court costs and a £95 victim surcharge.

No compensation was ordered as magistrates deemed that “the amount of compensation that the court would be able to impose would not meet the distress caused to the complainant”.

MAGISTRATES have fined a 37-year-old man after he admitted to harassing a woman.

Maurice Bradbury, of Allington Rise, Sherfield-on-Loddon, pleaded guilty to harassment without violence and criminal damage.

Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court heard how between January 8 and January 30 he continued to call the victim and go to her address.

Between January 15 and January 30 he damaged a television belonging to the same woman.

Bradbury was fined £160 and was told to pay £40 court costs, along with a £34 victim surcharge.

Magistrates also imposed a restraining order banning Bradbury from contacting the woman or going to her address.

A BASINGSTOKE man has been banned from driving for four years after he was caught drug driving.

Lee Dauley, of Stag Hill, changed his plea during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

On May 6, Dauley was driving a black Audi when he was caught on Western Way with no less than 479 ug/l of Benzoylecgonine - the main metabolite of cocaine.The legal limit is 50.

The 34-year-old was also fined £200, and told to pay £150 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

A BASINGSTOKE man damaged garden items belonging to a woman in the town.

Ryan Williams, of Abbey Road, admitted to criminal damage during an appearance at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court. The offence took place on June 19.

The 23-year-old was fined £80, and ordered to pay £40 court costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
